SEO has a reputation for being slow and technical. Some of it is. But a surprising number of the problems we find in audits are simple, and fixing them is the fastest way to start getting found by the customers already searching for you.
The ten fixes
One clear title per page, 30 to 60 characters, with what you do and where.
A meta description that reads like an invitation, not a list of keywords.
One H1 heading per page that says what the page is about.
Section headings (H2) so people and search engines can scan the page.
Alternative text on images, describing what the image shows.
Internal links between related pages, such as from a blog post to the service it talks about.
A sitemap.xml submitted in Google Search Console.
HTTPS everywhere, with the http version redirecting to https.
Lighter images, compressed and in modern formats, so pages load fast on mobile.
Enough useful text on key pages to answer what customers actually ask.
Where to start
Start with your homepage and your three most important service or product pages. Those are usually the pages that bring customers, and improving them has the biggest effect.
Then keep a simple routine: one new helpful article or page per month, and a quick check every quarter to catch anything that broke.
Not sure what is wrong on your site?
Our free audit checks most of this list automatically and tells you what to fix first. If you prefer to hand it over, see our SEO service.
